Chelsea announced on Friday James had signed a new six year deal keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2032 , with his existing contract set to expire in 2028.
It’s a huge boost for Chelsea to have James commit the prime years of his career to the club, and an indication he believes the Blues are heading in the right direction.
With James now tied down to a new deal, the Blues have other contract renewals they need to take care of, especially when it comes to Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile and Marc Cucurella.
All three will have two years left on their deals in the summer, and Chelsea need to decide whether they want to offer new deals or move the trio on.
It’s believed Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are looking for improved deals, but Jacobs has said Colwill could be next.
He took to X.com and said:
“Understand Levi Colwill is another name Chelsea could now look to extend.
“Contracted until 2029 with a one-year option. Nothing close yet but a willingness from all parties to explore a new deal.
“Marc Cucurella is believed to have been rewarded with improved terms last year despite no announcement.”
Colwill hasn’t played this season after suffering an ACL injury before the start of the campaign, but his recovery is thought to be progressing well.

The England international was seen in training earlier this week, which is a positive sign, but it’s understood he’s still some way from a return.
It’s been reported the plan/hope is for Colwill to play this season, but one thing the Blues won’t do is rush him back.
