In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Chelsea have joined the race for Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi. It is understood that the Blues would have to rival Arsenal, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the race to land the Morocco international this summer.

Bouaddi’s Impressive Form In Ligue 1

Bouaddi has managed to catch the eye at times with his performances at the centre of Lille’s midfield in the previous campaign. The 18-year-old secured one assist in 42 matches for the French club last season in multiple competitions.

The Moroccan talent is currently among the most gifted central midfielders in Ligue 1. Hence, it is no wonder that the Blues are in the running to land him later this year.

His current contract at the Ligue 1 club will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Chelsea to sign him on the cheap in this transfer period.

What Will Bouaddi Bring To Chelsea?

Bouaddi is a decent tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure possession back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is an accurate passer as well.

The Morocco international can even create the odd chance for his teammates from midfield. Bouaddi is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder if asked to do so by his manager. However, there are some question marks over whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the Blues manage to sign him in this summer transfer window.

We can expect Bouaddi to bring more quality and depth to Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso’s midfield department in the long run. He is capable of securing a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming seasons.

At 18, the future looks quite promising for Bouaddi as long as he continues to improve with each year. However, he would need some time to adjust to life in the Premier League before Alonso can get the best out of him. Still, Bouaddi would be an excellent signing for the Blues in the long run.
