Essugo, for those not familiar with his name, is a 19-year-old midfielder, who is currently plying his trade with the aforementioned Las Palmas.

The Portuguese made the move to Gran Canaria on a season-loan long deal from Sporting CP over the summer.

And his impressive performances in the months since have long begun to pique the attentions of some of Europe’s top clubs.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have previously been credited with an interest in bringing Essugo in with a view to the 2025/26 campaign.

As alluded to above, though, Spanish football’s two biggest clubs may well be forced to beat out competition from the Premier League in efforts to land the youngster.

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:

‘Chelsea keep monitoring Dario Essugo for the future, after including his name in the January shortlist.’
