Chelsea have slapped a huge price tag on Nicolas Jackson, who will not be joining Bayern Munich on a permanent deal.
The Bavarians signed Jackson on loan last summer, with the Bundesliga giants having the option to make the move permanent for £56.3 million.
Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl confirmed earlier this week that they will not be triggering that obligation.
Chelsea could sell Jackson in a bid to raise funds for new signings in the summer window.
According to The Athletic, the Blues believe they could get up to £60m for the Senegal international, who is contracted at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
Chelsea spent a fee worth around £32m to sign him from Villarreal in 2023. He has bagged 30 goals and 12 assists in 81 senior appearances.
Despite being second fiddle to Harry Kane, Jackson has impressed with his performances in Germany.
He has scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 30 appearances across all competitions for Bayern.
There is uncertainty at Chelsea at the moment. The club wanted to keep Liam Rosenior for next season, but were forced to change their stance following a disastrous run of form.
Calum McFarlane has been placed in charge for the remainder of the season, but Chelsea are considering Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Xabi Alonso for the permanent role.
Jackson’s future may depend on who the club appoint as Rosenior’s successor in the summer.
