Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keeping tabs on River Plate midfielder Franco Mastantuono ahead of the summer window, but they aren’t alone in the chase. Several top European clubs are also in the hunt.

According to Diario AS, a bidding war could break out for the highly rated 17-year-old, with Manchester United and Chelsea expressing strong interest. Mastantuono’s contract has a €45 million release clause.

Real Madrid are said to be keeping an eye on him as well, though they haven’t made a formal offer. Mastantuono is under contract with River Plate until 2026 and won’t be eligible to move to Europe until after his 18th birthday in August, following his appearance at the Club World Cup.

Transfer insider César Luis Merlo reports that Manchester United have been the most serious suitor so far. The club has scouted Mastantuono in person and knows that meeting the €45 million clause will be key to any potential deal.

On Tuesday, TEAMtalk reported Manchester United are preparing a firm bid for Mastantuono, but Chelsea and Real Madrid are also keen, posing major competition to land the River Plate sensation.

The report also says Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Mastantuono, with both clubs considered the most active in pursuing him so far. United’s technical director, Jason Wilcox, is said to be especially keen, having identified the teenager as a potential star and leading the push to bring him to Old Trafford.

Recently, TyC Sports’ Germán García Grova reported that PSG have opened talks to sign Mastantuono and made him a priority target. The French club joins a growing list of teams inquiring about the young Argentine.

Moreover, TNT Sports’ Argentina’s Maximiliano Grillo reported that Mastantuono will stay at River throughout this year. The club plans to extend his contract, which expires in 2026, and increase his release clause. It is currently €45 million, and the club intends to raise it to at least €50 million.
