Chelsea sent scouts to watch Ipswich striker Liam Delap against Tottenham over the weekend according to reports.
It’s no secret Chelsea are in the market for a striker, and they paid the price for not signing one in January, with both Marc Guiu and Nicolas Jackson picking up injuries on deadline day.
Pedro Neto played through the middle in the defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, and the Blues will surely sign an alternative to Jackson in the summer.
Chelsea pursued Victor Osimhen for the majority of last summer, but couldn’t agree a deal for the Nigerian Striker, whilst a move for Samu Aghehowa fell through at the last minute.
The Blues are said to have reconsidered a summer move for Viktor Gyokeres, whilst they are also in the race for Benjamin Sesko, but face tough competition from Arsenal.
Delap is a striker the Blues have followed for a while, and they are said to be in pole position to land the 22-year-old.

It’s believed Delap will leave Ipswich this summer regardless of whether the Tractor Boys stay up and TBR Football have reported the Blues had scouts watching the striker in the defeat to Spurs over the weekend.
The report adds that representatives from Bundesliga clubs RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt were also present and Ipswich are said to want £40m.
Delap has scored ten goals and provided two assists in 25 Premier League appearances, with Maresca full of praise for the Englishman earlier in the campaign.

Maresca coached Delap at Manchester City and he scored 27 goals as City won the Premier League 2 title with Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia also part of the side.
Delap’s profile is exactly what Chelsea are looking for and he offers something completely different to Jackson, who lacks that presence in the box.
