Chelsea continue to track Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson, as the club look to sign a centre-forward.

Ferguson has been a long-standing transfer target for the Blues with the Irishman viewed as a player of huge potential.

The forward scored 10 goals during a breakthrough 2022/23 campaign with the Seagulls and last season became just the fourth player aged 18 or under to score a Premier League hat-trick.

Ferguson is building up his fitness after injuries decimated the second half of last season and scored the winner as the Republic of Ireland beat Finland 1-0 during the international break.

Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips has claimed the club are continuing to monitor Ferguson ahead of a potential move. Ferguson signed a new contract with Brighton in November 2023 that ties the 20-year-old to the AMEX Stadium until 2029.

He could be the latest player to swap Brighton for Chelsea, following deals for Marc Cucurella, Robert Sanchez and Moises Caicedo in recent transfer windows.

The West Londoners are looking to add a forward to their ranks to compete with Nicolas Jackson, after failed moves for Victor Osimhen and Samu Aghehowa in the summer window.

A deal for Aghehowa collapsed despite an agreement being reached with Atletico Madrid and the Spaniard instead signed for Porto. He has since scored 11 goals in 12 games for the Portuguese side and earned his first cap for Spain this month.

Negotiations with Osimhen’s representatives also broke down late in the window. After informing Napoli of his desire to leave, the Nigerian signed on loan for Galatasaray after the closure of the Premier League transfer window. He has a break clause in his contract but has expressed a desire to see out the season in Turkey.
