Chelsea face AC Milan at Stamford Bridge in just over an hour, and the teams are in!
It’s the lesser spotted 3pm Sunday kick off, which is messing up our body clock a little, as is the fact that this game is taking place less than 48 hours after our last game.
That means full rotation from Enzo Maresca as you’d expect, and effectively the bench and the team from the win over Bayer Leverkusen have been flipped to some degree. Nobody is likely to play more than an hour.
That game saw a mix of starters and squad players, and it’s the same today, although this looks closer to the team we will see next weekend.
Robert Sanchez, this season’s likely first choice goalkeeper, starts between the sticks. Reece James plays at right back, with summer signing Jorrel Hato surprisingly not making his first start for the club at left back. Instead Marc Cucurella plays once again.
In the middle it’s Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo.
The midfield sees Moises Caicedo keep his place, while Enzo Fernandez comes into the team alongside him. Cole Palmer plays just ahead of them.
Pedro Neto is on one flank and the impressive Jamie Gittens the other, while Joao Pedro leads the line, hoping to keep up his superb goal record for us so far.
Here are the full team line-ups for Chelsea vs AC Milan (kick off at 15:00 GMT)
Chelsea’s team to face AC Milan at Stamford Bridge.
We seem to be gradually moving towards a defined Maresca preferred team here. We wonder what tweaks we will see to this team next week when the Premier League returns? Perhaps a fit Romeo Lavia would be squeezed in, but that would mean dropping Gittens and moving Palmer out to the wing.
Other than that, and perhaps slotting Wesley Fofana in at centre back, this must be close to Maresca’s first team.
