Alex Crook, in his transfer exclusive for TalkSport, has reported that Chelsea are interested in a new goalkeeper and want to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton in the upcoming summer transfer window. The former Arsenal shot-stopper moved from the Gunners to Southampton after the new signing David Raya became the first-choice goalkeeper for the side.
Ramsdale has shown his performances for Southampton, who are fighting to avoid relegation from the Premier League. The Blues are interested in the player, but the deal could only be possible if Kepa Arrizabalaga moves away from the Stamford Bridge permanently. Robert Sanchez has not performed well and has faced criticism from the fans. Hence, Enzo Maresca is looking for a new goalkeeper in the summer.
Aaron Ramsdale’s a top-notch keeper, athletic, confident, and proven in the Premier League. He has quick reflexes, pulls off stunning saves, and isn’t afraid to command his box. His time at Arsenal showed he can handle pressure, keeping clean sheets against big teams, while his Southampton stint proves he’s resilient, even when the defense wobbles.

Off the pitch, Ramsdale has a big personality—humble yet fiery, which could lift Chelsea’s dressing room. If Chelsea snags him, he’d bring stability between the sticks, challenge their current keepers, and add a vocal leader. At 26, he’s young enough to grow into a long-term asset.
Ramsdale has conceded 38 goals and kept 2 clean sheets in 19 matches in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. That means when Ramsdale is in goal, his team concedes a goal every 45 minutes. Aaron Ramsdale’s conceded goal per 90 minutes is 2.
Chelsea, however, faces stern competition from Leeds United for his services. They want to sign an alternative to Illan Meslier. However, the main thing that has to be seen is if Ramsdale, having played for Chelsea’s arch-rivals Arsenal, decides to make the move to Stamford Bridge if the Blues come out with an offer for the star.
However, the deal will be great for the Blues if it goes through. They will get a reliable presence in front of the goal that will upgrade their team even more.
