Cole Palmer was back in the starting Chelsea line up in the 0-0 draw against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
Palmer’s return didn’t go like he would have wanted it to go. Chelsea overall were pretty poor, and you could see that this was a player only just returning from a long term injury as he failed to make any sort of impact on the game.
The result and performance was more disappointing because it was off the back of Chelsea losing 3-1 to Leeds United, another struggling Premier League side, in the week.
Fans had been waiting since September to finally see Palmer back out on the pitch for Chelsea from the off, but it was one to forget this time around.
Palmer will be back to his very best again soon once he is full match fit and ready, I don’t think anyone should be doubting that. And maybe that is why he has missed training today.

Reporter Nizaar Kinsella posted on X earlier today whilst watching Chelsea’s open training session ahead of their next Champions League match against Atalanta tomorrow night.
He said:
“Cole Palmer is not involved in training today ahead of Atalanta.
“There is no injury, it is just part of his return process and he will be ready to face Everton on Saturday.”
Easing Palmer back in like they did with Reece James, and Wesley Fofana as well actually, with both players still being eased back in, is very smart and I like it.
Palmer is an important player for Chelsea so we need to make sure he’s not immediately putting himself at more risk of getting injured again right away.
