Chivas Femenil returns to Estadio AKRON this Sunday with renewed excitement to begin another Liga MX Femenil campaign, backed by the unwavering support of the Rojiblanca Nation. The Apertura 2026 Matchday 1 clash against Querétaro brings plenty of optimism, not only because of Chivas' strong record against Gallos, but also because of the impressive track record of Antonio Contreras.
The head coach is set to begin his fourth tournament in charge of the Rojiblancas after establishing a consistent identity built on attractive soccer and strong results. While the foundation he has built is undeniable, another remarkable statistic stands out: since his arrival, Chivas has won every season opener under his leadership.
The word perfect is no exaggeration. Since the Clausura 2025, Guadalajara has won all three of its opening matches, scoring at least two goals in each while keeping a clean sheet every time. Those numbers reflect the momentum Contreras has generated, restoring the team's defensive solidity and using it as the platform for sustained success.
His first two league debuts came away from home, against Necaxa and Atlético San Luis. Chivas defeated the Centellas 3-0 in the Clausura 2025, before earning a 2-0 victory over Atlético San Luis in the Apertura 2025. In the Clausura 2026, the Rojiblancas repeated that result against San Luis, this time at Estadio AKRON, once again winning 2-0.
With another opening match just around the corner, Chivas Femenil will look to extend its perfect start under Antonio Contreras and build momentum for a new Liga MX Femenil campaign.
