Chivas Femenil has a Bicentennial 'Lady' | OneFootball

Wearing the Chivas jersey is not for everyone. Even more complex is writing an extensive history with the Rebaño Sagrado, due to the demands and everything that defending Mexico's most popular and beloved team represents.

Last Sunday, there was a player who, for six years, has dedicated herself to giving her best while wearing the Guadalajara crest and who, for that very reason, has earned an important place in the hearts of the Rojiblanca Nation. She is Damaris Godínez, who, against Tijuana, joined Blanca Félix and Jaqueline Rodríguez as the only players to have played 200 games with Chivas Femenil in the women's league.

'Dama' is synonymous with dedication, discipline, and commitment, both on and off the field, values she has demonstrated since she started in the Liga MX Femenil. It was these convictions that led her to join the Rebaño Sagrado ahead of the 2019 Apertura, making her debut on the first day of that tournament.

Little by little, Godínez not only earned a spot in Guadalajara's starting lineup, but also contributed intensity, confidence, and several spectacular goals that ultimately propelled the team to victory in the 2022 Apertura and the AP21-CL22 Campeón de Campeones.

Throughout her time with the Guadalajara team, Damaris has managed to reinvent herself, performing with the same excellence we know her for, regardless of the position she plays on the field. Although we are used to seeing her guarding the team's flanks, she has also shown that she can play as a very solid center back, as evidenced by this Sunday's unbeaten goal.

And, of course, we cannot overlook her admirable work as a mother, which she combines with her dream of being a professional soccer player, as an inspiration to thousands of women who are pursuing the same goal.

Today we celebrate Damaris' 200th appearance, but we certainly hope there will be many more to come as a Rojiblanca!
