The biggest rivalry in Mexican soccer will once again thrill the United States, as Guadalajara takes on América in Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday, October 11, at State Farm Stadium, at 8 p.m. (CT).
The Rebaño Sagrado's last two appearances in Arizona were in 2016, when they faced Pachuca at Chase Field, and in 2006, when they faced their archrival at the very same venue where they will meet again this year.
Javier Mier, Chivas' sporting director, and Jon Sheiman, executive vice president of Unified Events, highlighted the importance of Chivas' return to this part of the United States.
"After almost a decade without coming to Phoenix, we are very happy to return to play a Clásico de México, and to do so with a match of this importance to reconnect with our fans in the United States fills us with pride and motivates us to the maximum. I am sure that it will be an unforgettable day, which we hope to cap off with a good performance and, of course, a victory, which is what the Rojiblanca Nation always deserves," said Javier Mier.
"In the world of soccer, few matches are more exciting and noteworthy than El Clásico de México. We are thrilled to bring this event to State Farm Stadium and give Arizona's passionate soccer fans the opportunity to cheer on their heroes in person," said Jon Sheiman.
