Chloe Kelly’s winning penalty was measured at 110km/hour
The winning penalty at Euro 2025 scored by Chloe Kelly was more powerful than any Premier League shot recorded in 2024/25.
The final England penalty against Spain clocked at 110km/hour – beating Alexander Isak’s Premier League record of 109km/hour from last season.
While some of the penalties between Spain and England in the final left a sour taste, Chloe Kelly’s winner was an absolute rocket.
Having missed her spot-kick against Italy in the quarter final (before converting the rebound), the Arsenal and England star wasn’t to be denied again.
After her iconic pre-penalty routine was complete, Kelly hopped up to the ball and unleashed an unstoppable effort into the top corner to secure England’s second European Championship.
The strike from Kelly clocked at 110km/hour which was an unprecedentedly hard shot.
In fact, the 27-year-old’s effort was measured to be 1km/hour faster than any Premier League player managed last season.
Alexander Isak’s goal against Liverpool was clocked at 109km/hour which gives Kelly another impressive statistic.
After some difficult months Kelly seems to have finally found happiness in football, having recently completed a permanent move to Arsenal.
During her season-long loan with the Gunners Kelly became a Champions League winner and with another Euros title added to her trophy cabinet the Lioness can certainly be proud of an impressive campaign.
“There were a lot of tears at full-time, especially when I saw my family, because they were the people that come me through those dark moments,’ Kelly said after the Euro 2025 final.
“I am so grateful to be out at the back end, but if that’s a story to tell someone who maybe experiences something the same, then tough times don’t last and just around the corner was a Champions League final.
“I won that and now a Euros final, I’ve won that, so, thank you to everyone that wrote me off, I’m grateful.”
Chloe Kelly’s odds to win Sports Personality of the Year were slashed after her heroics in the final and she might not be done winning just yet.
