Rangers started their 2025-26 Scottish Premiership campaign today with a 1-1 draw against Motherwell at Fir Park, and manager Russell Martin was not a happy man after the match.

James Tavernier put the visitors ahead 14 minutes into the game, but the Ibrox club were unable to leave with all three points as they were pegged back in the 87th minute.

It was far from an impressive performance from the Gers, and it is not an ideal way to begin a new season.

Martin was displeased with what he saw from Rangers, making his feelings very clear after the game by blasting some of his players.

Chris Sutton was impressed with the frankness of the Light Blues boss, taking to social media platform X to react.

Rangers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Champions League, and Martin will be expecting an instant response from his men.

They return to domestic action next Saturday against Dundee, and a victory will come in handy in their first home league game of the season.

Rangers need to put in better performances if they are serious about challenging the Hoops for the title this season.

However, Rangers clearly need more players with character, and more arrivals could be on the way in the coming days.
