Chris Waddle has told Harry Gray that enjoying his football should be the priority during his Sheffield Wednesday loan.

"Enjoy it. Wednesday have great fans, I had a great relationship with them. They like skill, they like creativity, they like players with imagination," he told the Sheffield Star.

Gray, 17, has joined the League One club for his first full-season loan. He spent the second half of last term at Rotherham United, who were relegated from the third tier, starting all 20 matches across two regimes and scoring three. He was on the bench for Leeds’ League Cup defeat at Wednesday last August.

"I saw him play for Rotherham last year — he was in a team that was struggling and probably lost a bit of confidence."

"If he comes out the blocks with Barry Bannan around him giving him experience and pointing him in the right direction, we know he's got a lot of talent."

"The main thing at that age is to go there and enjoy it. Turning out in front of 30,000 fans - amazing."

Gray is one of several Leeds players to depart ahead of pre-season. Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow have joined Arsenal and Manchester United respectively after their contracts expired. Pascal Struijk has moved to Brighton & Hove Albion for an initial £18m, and Isaac Schmidt has signed permanently for Young Boys.
