Christian Eriksen came off the bench yesterday to make his 100th appearance for Manchester United in the 0-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The Dane signed for United in the summer of 2022 when he left Brentford as a free agent.

He was in instrumental in the Red Devils’ success of the 2022/2023 season, playing predominantly as a starter in a midfield two with fellow new signing at the time, Casemiro.

Nonetheless, over the last two years his influence on the team has begun to decline as he has played less and less football.

Despite this, with four goals in all competitions, this season has been the 33 year old’s most productive in front of goal since the 2018/2019 campaign for Tottenham Hotspur.

The club’s official website report “Christian Eriksen made his 100th Manchester United appearance during Tuesday’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest.”

“Christian becomes the 226th Red and the third Dane to have chalked up 100 outings for United.”

Goalkeeping legend Peter Schmeichel is well ahead on 398 appearances and Jesper Olsen reached 176 games in a red shirt.

Eriksen has won two trophies during his time at Old Trafford, the Carabao cup in 2023 and the FA Cup last year.

He will be hoping for a Europa League medal this season as well with United in the quarter finals of the competition, where they will take on Olympique Lyonnais.

The Denmark international will not sign a new deal in the summer as he and the club plan for him to walk away as a free agent.

The 33 year old has been heavily linked with a return to his former side Ajax in the summer window, where he would likely get much more game time as Ruben Amorim aims to play younger, more athletic players in the centre of the park next season.
