FLW's Huddersfield Town pundit believes Lee Grant losing his position at the club is inevitable

Lee Grant's role as head coach at Huddersfield Town is under serious threat, with just one win in the Terriers' last six league games, seeing them drop five points adrift of the play-off places, after being seemingly one of the favourites for the title at the start of the season.

As per the Football League World exclusive, Lee Grant is fighting to save his job as boss at Huddersfield Town, with the Terriers undergoing a dismal run of form.

Having previously been a coach at Ipswich Town under Kieran McKenna, helping the Tractor Boys rise from League One to the Premier League, the former Manchester United and Stoke City goalkeeper undertook his first managerial job this summer, replacing Michael Duff at the Accu Stadium.

Following his appointment, excitement from Huddersfield supporters was palpable, as they hoped that Grant could come in and replicate the work he had done with McKenna in Suffolk, but so far, it's not gone that way.

A 3-0 defeat away to Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend has compounded misery on Grant, who, after conceding two late goals to lose 2-1 at home to Bolton Wanderers in their previous fixture, would be humiliated yet again in a slightly different fashion.

Fans are beginning to run out of patience with Grant, who is now in a battle to save his position.

Football League World's Huddersfield Town pundit, Graeme, has provided his verdict as to whether Grant's sacking from the Terriers is inevitable or not.

When asked whether he thinks Grant will lose his job, Graeme said, "Yeah, I do think it has become inevitable, it's all that Town fans are talking about, and have been for a week or so now, that they think that he is going to go.

"I've increasingly come around to the idea that maybe it is for the best to do it sooner rather than later to give whoever comes in to assess the squad and get them playing before January.

"However, I also think that after a dozen or so league games in charge, it's also ridiculous to sack a manager. So I'm torn about it.

"However, if it's inevitable, let's do it now, let's not delay, and let's look to the future with perhaps a more experienced manager and let's not have a project or a gamble, as such.

"Just a manager who is capable of playing square peg players in square hole places in the team, and be a bit more pragmatic, perhaps someone who is capable of changing games, changing their style mid-game, as that's what we've really been lacking.

"But I do think that it is probably inevitable now, which is a shame, because on many levels I quite like Lee Grant, but I think it is probably a job too soon for him.

"As a brand-new manager, coming into a club with so many problems behind the scenes, it's been a lot to ask, so if he does go, I wish him well.

Huddersfield Town must make a big decision over the future of Lee Grant, which could define the rest of the season

A big decision must be made on the future of Grant at Huddersfield by the board as to whether to keep or replace him. Whatever verdict they come to, it will without a doubt shape the rest of the season.

They can decide to cut their losses now, bring a more experienced head in the hope that they can find the desired form to push for promotion, or they can stick with Grant and hope that the 42-year-old can turn the club's form around.

Huddersfield invested heavily in the squad this summer, bringing in 14 new arrivals under the watch of Grant, and to change the man who had a telling role in bringing those players in so soon could prove to be costly in the long term.

Grant will feel as though he has not been given a fair chance to properly mould the side in his image, and that they are having teething issues, but in a results-based business, he cannot afford to be complacent any longer.

Up next for the Terriers is a trip to Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup, followed by Mansfield Town in the EFL Trophy, before they host Plymouth Argyle, who themselves are struggling, in their next league match on November 8th.
