FC Twente have had a disappointing start to the season in the Eredivisie so far. So, it only made sense that the Tukkers quickly went on the market.
Just before the transfer deadline, the team led by manager Joseph Oosting and technical director Jan Streuer, signed right winger Marko Pjaca.
The 30-year-old Croatian joins from Dinamo Zagreb, where his contract expired this summer. Streuer praised the attacker on ESPN, calling him a “class player.” Pjaca has 28 caps and was in Croatia’s squad for the last European Championship. He played nine minutes against France in the 2018 World Cup final, a match that ended in a 4-2 defeat for Croatia.
Twente don’t expect any incoming transfers this summer, but they do expect some outgoing ones. Defenders Mees Hilgers and Alec van Hoorenbeeck are allowed to leave Grolsch Veste. “We’re still working on that. There are still a few countries open, and several Dutch clubs are reportedly interested in loaning him (Hilgers). It would be good if at least one of them leaves.”
