Roma boss Claudio Ranieri did not hide his disappointment with the team’s defeat in Holland against AZ Alkmaar.
In his post-match interview with Roma TV, Ranieri said, “There’s anger, there’s disappointment, there’s everything because you have the game in hand, you played well, you created, but you didn’t finish well enough.”
“In general tonight we did what we had to do. Alkmaar didn’t do much of anything for the most part, but in the end they won and we lost.”
“I already told the boys in the locker room, this is the truth. We have to be more determined, more cynical in certain circumstances. You can’t concede a goal from a throw-in.”
“Too bad about tonight’s result. It’s a real shame.”
“Every game is a story in itself. Here we played, we created a lot and we didn’t collect anything. Football is like this, maybe there will be a time when we play badly, we don’t do anything and we win 1-0.”
“Unfortunately, football has taught us this and we have to know how to swallow bitter, very bitter pills.”
