Claudio Ranieri’s 2025 couldn’t have started any better.
The veteran technician opened the new calendar year a 2-0 victory in the Derby della Capitale with Lazio, his fifth in a row on the Roma bench, and continues off it with a career recognition.
According to LaPresse, the Giallorossi coach has been presented with a lifetime achievement award by foreign journalists for “the incredible career he had, and for having interrupted his “retirement” to return to lead his Roma.”
Ranieri will therefore be one of the six athletes who will receive the Sports Award from the Foreign Press Association, which has been awarding athletes who have distinguished themselves in the calendar year since 1991.
The other winners will be: the women’s national volleyball team as Athlete of the Year, Lautaro Martinez as best foreign Athlete, Jasmine Paolini as Revelation Athlete, Simone Baarlam as best Paralympic Athlete, and finally Manuel Bortuzzo, with the special award from the sports committee.
