Claudio Spinelli has landed in Rio de Janeiro to complete his move to Vasco, with the 29-year-old Argentine forward due to finalise paperwork at São Januário.

He touched down at Galeão on Saturday morning and spoke publicly about the challenge ahead. According to Globo.com, he will undergo medical tests before signing and being officially announced.

Spinelli described the switch as a big step and a major sporting challenge, adding that he feels very happy and full of desire. He said he hopes to follow the path of Cano and Vegetti, adapt quickly, and give everything for the team and supporters.

The fee is expected to be around US$ 2 million, roughly R$ 10.5 million. The move is viewed as a market opportunity given the comparatively low transfer and salary costs in Brazilian terms.

Centre-forward remains a priority for Vasco after losing Rayan and Vegetti in that area. Brenner has been signed as first choice, but the bench role currently filled by GB still needs cover, with a profile similar to Vegetti sought.

Standing 1.80m and strong in the air, Spinelli is noted for his leap. His best season came last year with Del Valle, scoring 28 in 50. He struck four in six in the Libertadores and four in eight in the Sudamericana, including two against Vasco.

The expectation is that he will be available in the coming days to begin training with the squad.
