One of the interesting sub-plots of tonight’s game between Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan concerns Jonathan Tah, who is wanted by rivals Inter but made an admission regarding who his wife’s family support.

As Calciomercato.com write, Tah is among the most talked about players in Germany given that he is the bedrock of a defensive department that won the Bundesliga last year, playing in the middle of a three-man defence as he should also do tonight.

However, his contract expires at the end of the year and even in the summer transfer window that has just ended he confirmed that he did not want to renew with Die Werkself, thus making him a very tempting opportunity for various clubs.

Inter are keen on Tah given that they will evaluate the future of Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij and want to add a younger centre-back to their squad at a very low cost, but in the prime of his career.

Speaking to Sky Sport, though, Tah revealed that he actually already has a direct connection with Italy, but it won’t make Inter fans smile. His wife is in fact Italian, but his family is strongly on the red side of the city.

“I have a special connection with Italy, my wife is Italian and her whole family are Milan fans. It will be a sort of family derby, so it will be very interesting for me, I’m happy because it’s the first time I’ll play against Milan. I can’t wait, I’m focused on this match,” he said.

It is unlikely that it will put Inter off, though they face competition from Bayern Munich or Barcelona which could be the biggest obstacle to overcome. The other question is obvious: will it tempt Milan to make their own move?
