AC Milan are ready to battle some European heavyweights in the race to sign Ruben van Bommel, a report claims, who is the son of former midfielder Mark van Bommel.
As Calciomercato.it report, Paulo Fonseca has changed system to use both Alvaro Morata and Tammy Abraham up front, which is something that could in turn alter the transfer strategy in view of the coming months amid suggestions Luka Jovic could leave.
The report states that Milan are keen on Ruben van Bommel, a 20-year-old striker who plays for AZ Alkmaar and scored a brace in the Europa League this week. He has six goals in eight games this season, a red-hot start that has attracted the attention of Europe’s top clubs.
Both Manchester United and Bayern Munich have him on their radar, but Milan could use Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s friendship with his father Mark Bommel to beat the competition and secure a talent for the future.
It is merely a suggestion for now, but which could become a concrete negotiation in the coming weeks. After all, Milan are always very attentive to young players and Van Bommel seems to have the right characteristics to take off, especially if Fonseca keeps going with two strikers.
