Serie A clubs and figures have paid tribute to Rocco Commisso following the Fiorentina president’s death, aged 76. The Italian-American businessman had owned Fiorentina since 2019.
According to Sky Sport Italia, a minute’s silence to honour Commisso will precede this weekend’s fixtures across the professional men’s and women’s leagues.
Tributes in Italy and abroad included Real Madrid, New York Cosmos and Como, with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis offering condolences to Commisso’s family and calling it a major loss for Fiorentina and Italian football.
Inter president Beppe Marotta praised Commisso’s passion and transparency, describing him as an inspiration, while Lega Serie A president Ezio Maria Simonelli highlighted his energy and generosity.
Fiorentina are away at Bologna on Sunday. During Commisso’s tenure, the club reached three finals, two in the Conference League and one in the Coppa Italia, all under Vincenzo Italiano, who now coaches Bologna.
