The future of Nico Paz has been a subject of much discussion lately, especially amid speculation linking him to a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Premier League giants have reportedly tabled a bid worth €50 million, but the move has been made complicated by Real Madrid’s involvement.
Although Paz is no longer a Real Madrid player, Los Blancos own 50% of the player’s transfer rights, meaning Real Madrid have an option to match any offers that come for the youngster.
In a recent interview with Corriere Dello Sport, Como president Mirwan Suwarso has openly spoken about Paz’s future and how Real Madrid’s involvement has affected the club’s decision making.
When asked about recent links to Spurs, Suwarso said (h/t Mundo Deportivo), “Transfer rumours about Tottenham? It’s not true that we rejected the offer.”

Suwarso added that no one makes an offer for Paz due to Real Madrid’s involvement in the transfer.
“No one makes offers (for Nico Paz) knowing that we would then have to send them to Real Madrid, who have the right to match them,” he said.
Recent reports suggest Como are in talks with Real Madrid to re-negotiate the terms of the Paz deal as the Italian feel hard done by.
Suwarso added that keeping hold of Nico Paz was not an easy task this summer, especialy as the Argentine was keen on playing for his former club.
“There was a time when we feared Nico would return to Madrid: he grew up in the Real Madrid youth system and dreams of one day playing at the Bernabéu. Luckily, he stayed,” he concluded.
