Como president Mirwan Suwarso has opened up about the future of Cesc Fabregas and where it can potentially lie in the next few seasons.
For now, the Spaniard seems quite settled at Como and even rejected a switch to Inter at the end of the previous campaign.
The lakeside club are in a Champions League spot and there is no reason for Fabregas to depart Como either, with an exit only likely to take a big effort from potential suitors.
Suwarso, in the meeantime, spoke to Revista Undici about the manager. He made it clear Fabregas is well capable of managing Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona but he is also expected to help in finding a possible replacement.
He said – relayed by TMW: “Fabregas is really very important for us, but we would be stupid not to think that one day he could go to Arsenal, Barcelona or Chelsea. If he continues to win with us or in any case to be successful, even if I cannot speak for him, I believe he could have bigger dreams.”
Suwarso expressed the urgency at Como to seek a plan for life without Fabregas because he obviously won’t stay at the club forever.
“Having said that, I hope that as long as he is here he will help us create a success plan also for those who will have to replace him. For me, when he leaves, if he ever leaves, he should be the one to choose who will take his place. He should be involved in the choice. Being a member of the Board of Football, he will have to help us appoint the next coach.”
Como play Roma in a huge clash this week and that could be decisive for not just the Ligurians but also for Fabregas.
Juventus take on Udinese in what could be a big clash for their Champions League aspirations too.
