Leeds United have named their XI to face Man United at Elland Road, with Ethan Ampadu suspended and Daniel Farke making two changes. According to Leedsunited.news, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Okafor come in for Ampadu and Lukas Nmecha.
With Jayden Bogle absent from the squad, James Justin keeps his place at right-back after his standout display at Liverpool. Brenden Aaronson drops into midfield after starting up front alongside Nmecha at Anfield. Sean Longstaff returns to the bench after injury, with Sam Chambers also named.
Leeds return to Premier League action only two and a half days after a 0-0 draw at Liverpool, a result that extended their unbeaten run to six. Following Wolves’ 3-0 win over West Ham, Farke’s side could move 10 points clear of Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.
Ampadu serves a one-match ban after receiving his fifth booking of the season for a handball on the edge of the area at Anfield. The decision was debated, with the caution viewed as harsh.
There is optimism Leeds can trouble Man United, with pundits including Alan Shearer, Ally McCoist and Tony Cascarino expressing confidence. Farke’s two previous Leeds meetings with Man United were friendlies, a 2-0 defeat and a 0-0 draw, while his Norwich side lost 3-1, 4-0 and 2-1 in the 2019-20 season. Avoiding defeat today would be his first competitive result against Man United at the fourth attempt.
