Manchester City come up against Tottenham in a lunch-time kick-off at the Etihad Stadium on matchday two of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s men made a convincing start to the new season as a brace from Erling Haaland and debut goals from Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki helped the Blues to a dominant 4-0 win over Wolves at the Molineux Stadium last week.
Ederson, Savinho, Marcus Bettinelli, Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic, Phil Foden and Rodri were all excluded from the matchday squad to face Wolves last week, with Guardiola issuing an update on his side’s fitness for Tottenham on Friday.
Rodri and Foden have been deemed fit for the visit from the UEFA Europa League winners, who are interested in sigining Savinho and are expected to submit an improved offer for the 21-year-old attacker after Saturday’s game.
Kovacic and Gvardiol remain injured, with the latter continuing rehabilitation after undergoing Achilles surgery earlier in the summer, having played an instrumental role for Guardiola in midfield last term during Rodri’s absence due to an ACL injury.
Savinho is approaching full fitness and is understood to be training individually amid doubts over his future at the Etihad Stadium, with Rayan Cherki and Oscar Bobb staking a claim in the starting XI after impressive pre-seasons and performances against Wolves last week.
Ederson was ruled out of the trip to the Molineux Stadium owing to stomach problems but the 31-year-old has trained in the days leading to the game against Tottenham as he continues to be linked with a switch to Galatasaray.
Ahead of Saturday’s 12:30 PM (UK) kick-off at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola and Tottenham boss Thomas Frank have confirmed their respective lineups as both managers look to build on their respective wins on matchday one of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
