On a day in which TSG 1899 Hoffenheim already confirmed the departure of four players, it was later confirmed that club mainstay Pavel Kaderabek will also be leaving die Kraichgauer. The 33-year-old spent 10 seasons playing in Sinsheim and made a total of 256 Bundesliga appearances. The 48-times-capped Czech international departs on an expiring contract.

Kaderabek’s appearances for both club and country declined over the last three years, but the former Sparta Prague man did step up for his team during its time of need during the 2024/25 relegation race. Called upon to start in place of injured wingback Valentin Gendrey, Kaderabek scored twice over the course of four consecutive starts at the end of the campaign.

On Saturday, squad captain Oliver Baumann expressed the hope that one of his friends and fellow veterans would be allowed to remain with the team. Baumann called Kaderabek “an important presence on the pitch and in the locker room“.

The fact that Hoffenheim didn’t even make an attempt to give Kaderabek a proper farewell in their final home match is sure not to sit well with many disaffected club professionals. The TSG did try to address this in a statement.

It was not possible to give him a proper send-off,” the club statement read. “But of course, we have agreed with Pavel that he will be able to say goodbye to the TSG fans in a fitting manner and in a manner befitting a player like him, at a home game next season.

After an incredible ten years, my journey here at TSG is now coming to an end,” the player himself noted in his own statement. “I would have really liked to continue playing for Hoffenheim, but unfortunately the club has other plans for my position. I’ve enjoyed my time here immensely and this club will always remain in my heart.
