Conmebol changes referee for Palmeiras’ Libertadores opener at Junior Barranquilla

Conmebol has altered the match official for Palmeiras' 2026 Libertadores opener away to Junior Barranquilla in Cartagena on eight April.

The federation announced on Thursday, 2 April, that Argentine referee Maximiliano Ramírez will take charge.

Fellow Argentine Facundo Tello had initially been assigned to the game, but he suffered an injury on Tuesday, 31 March, during the World Cup play-off between DR Congo and Jamaica.

Palmeiras' group fixtures are Junior Barranquilla away on eight April, Sporting Cristal at home on 16 April, Cerro Porteño away on 29 April, Sporting Cristal away on five May, Cerro Porteño at home on 20 May, and Junior Barranquilla at home on 28 May.

The opener is set for Globo and ESPN.
