The record champions are pressing ahead with their squad planning, also with a view to planned contract extensions. Two key players are now about to take a significant step.
According to Sky reports, Serge Gnabry and Konrad Laimer are close to reaching an agreement with FC Bayern. A new contract until 2028 is being prepared for the attacking player, while the Austrian midfielder is set to stay until 2029. The strong performances of the two professionals in the first half of the season have convinced those responsible to tie them down for the long term.
There had already been speculation in recent weeks about a possible extension with Gnabry. According to the Münchner Abendzeitung newspaper, the international had signalled early on that he was willing to stay despite possible salary cuts. BILD also reported on advanced talks and a two-year contract.
Gnabry is set to receive a performance-related salary in future, which, including bonuses, will amount to a maximum of €15 million – around three million less than previously. According to Abendzeitung, the 30-year-old wants to concentrate on the second half of the season and the 2026 World Cup in a quiet environment. He is also said to greatly appreciate Vincent Kompany’s style of play. According to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Max Eberl was already very impressed with Gnabry in the summer of 2024 and sees him as an important leading player, which is one reason for the impending extension.
There are also clear signals from those close to the player: „Serge Gnabry feels very, very comfortable at FC Bayern. He wants to stay,“ explained Christian Falk in the Bayern Insider podcast. And Tobi Altschäffl added: „I would definitely go further than an interim deal, but there is an agreement.“

Talks are also ongoing with Konrad Laimer, albeit with different signs. The 28-year-old came on a free transfer from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 and has developed into a regular player and all-rounder within a short space of time. According to information from BILD, his current salary is around nine million euros – too little, according to the Austrian’s camp, which is now expecting a significantly improved offer.
His demand is clear: a contract that does justice to his sporting role. „Half a million… won’t be enough. He wants to see significantly more money,“ Altschäffl emphasised in the podcast. For Laimer, it is probably the last big contract of his career, and expectations are correspondingly high. At the same time, the all-rounder knows his value: whether as a six, an eight or on the flanks – his flexibility makes him indispensable for Kompany.
The talks have recently been quite complex. Christian Falk summarized the situation from Laimer’s point of view: „I came to FC Bayern a little under the radar, but have now asserted myself, am a regular player. And now I would also like a regular player’s salary.“ Now, however, an agreement seems to be imminent for Laimer as well.
