Copa Argentina draw made, Boca to face Gimnasia de Chivilcoy in round of 64 | OneFootball

The 14th edition of the Copa Argentina AXION Energy has been drawn, setting out the main bracket and the round of 64. Boca Juniors have been paired with Gimnasia de Chivilcoy.

According to Sitiboca.com.ar, 64 clubs from five tiers will take part, with Atenas de Río Cuarto and Gimnasia de Chivilcoy reaching the Final Phase for the first time. Independiente Rivadavia de Mendoza will compete as defending champions for the first time in their history.

The Liga Profesional contributes all 30 sides, including Boca, River, Racing, San Lorenzo, Independiente, Rosario Central, Huracán and Vélez. Primera Nacional adds 15, among them San Martín de Tucumán, Gimnasia de Mendoza, Temperley, Estudiantes de Río Cuarto and Agropecuario. Primera B Metropolitana supplies five, Torneo Federal A 10, and Primera C Metropolitana four.

Boca remain one of the tournament’s main draws. The club have lifted the cup several times in the past decade and have often used it as a route into international competition. Its straight knockout format, with neutral venues, leaves little room for mistakes.

The bracket also sketches out potential later clashes, dependent on progress.
