According to Globo.com, Corinthians have agreed a deal to appoint Emily Lima as head coach of the women's team on a contract with no fixed term, with confirmation expected in the coming hours.

The 45-year-old arrives at Parque São Jorge without a fee after leaving Levante in October. She replaces Lucas Piccinato, who was dismissed in the early hours of Saturday following the 2-2 draw with Fluminense at Neo Química Arena in the Brasileirão Feminino.

Lima views the shirt as globally respected and regards the move as a major moment in her life and career. After 16 years in coaching, she pledged hard work and aims to continue the club’s recent progress.

She is already in São Paulo and is expected to take her first training session on Wednesday. Her first match is against Palmeiras on 13 at 21:30 Brasília time at Arena Barueri, in the third round of the Brasileirão Feminino.

The upcoming international window will give her time on the training ground, though 10 Corinthians players will be away with their national teams.

Lima’s previous roles include Santos, São Caetano and Juventus in Brazil, plus national-team stints with Brazil, Peru and Ecuador, alongside her time in Spain with Levante.
