Corinthians aim to keep strong derby form after the 2025 season

On the afternoon of this Sunday (18th), Corinthians plays the first derby of the year 2026. The match is against São Paulo, for the third round of the first phase of the Paulistão. The ball rolls on the pitch of the Neo Química Arena, starting at 4 PM (Brasília time), with Timão looking to maintain the good performance built last year.

The People's Team played 14 derbies in the 2025 season and ended with a total performance of 57.4%, defeating all rivals throughout the year. There were seven victories, three draws, and four losses, with one of these triumphs against Tricolor Paulista in the last meeting between the teams, which ended 3-1, with goals from Yuri Alberto and a stunning goal by Depay.

However, the major clash of the season was against Palmeiras. Out of these 14, seven were against the biggest rival: three in the state championship, two in the Brasileirão, and two in the Copa do Brasil. Corinthians lost only one, in the first round of the points-based championship. Against Santos, there were three derbies, with two victories for the black and white team and one loss. The other two losses were to São Paulo.

This season, the number of derbies is expected to be high again. Besides the Paulistão and Brasileirão, which guarantee nine derbies in the year, Corinthians can still face rivals in the knockout stages of the state championship, the Copa do Brasil, and the Libertadores – in this case, only Palmeiras.
