Corinthians boast strong record in women's national cup semi-finals

This Sunday, the 24th, Corinthians begins its journey in the semifinals of the Brazilian Women's Championship. The duel against São Paulo starts with an away game at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu at 10:30 am (Brasília time). The Brabas are the current champions of the competition and are fighting for their seventh title – the sixth consecutive one, since they won the tournament in 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

The team relies on an excellent record in national competition semifinals to once again reach a decision of this type. Since 1997, the team has played 14 semifinals in four different tournaments (Taça Brasil, Copa do Brasil, Campeonato Brasileiro, and Supercopa do Brasil), reaching the final in 13 of them – or 92.8% of the total.

The only setback, in fact, occurred exactly in the first dispute, in the 1997 Taça Brasil, when Corinthians faced Lusa Sant’Anna (Portuguesa) in a single game and lost on penalties after a 1-1 tie in regular time. This was also the only national semifinal of Timão in the previous eras of the department, which had periods of activity spaced between 1997 and 2015.

Therefore, the other 13 disputes occurred since 2016, and in all years since then Corinthians has played – and won – some national competition semifinal. In total, adding all the games, the team played 23 games, with 17 wins, two draws, and four losses, in addition to 46 goals scored and 17 goals conceded.
