According to Globo.com, Corinthians are close to a verbal agreement to take Al-Nassr forward Wesley, 21, on loan, but any move hinges on lifting two FIFA transfer bans.

Wanted by Fernando Diniz, Wesley is ready to forgo part of his wages to fit the club’s finances and is prepared to wait for the bans to be resolved before any announcement.

Despite interest from Cruzeiro and Grêmio, he has told representatives he wants to return to CT Joaquim Grava. He has strong ties to Corinthians, is settled in São Paulo and has family and friends nearby.

Al-Nassr need to free a foreign-player slot. They would pay part of his salary, with Corinthians covering the rest, and the split is still under discussion.

Those familiar with talks say the deal is well advanced, and inside Parque São Jorge there is confidence he could quickly join Diniz’s squad.

Any transfer can only be completed if the bans are cleared. One relates to a debt to Philadelphia Union for José Martínez, the other to an unpaid FIFA fine, together about R$ nine million.

The registration window runs from 20 July to 11 September. Corinthians are seeking funds to meet commitments, prioritising payment of first-team image rights before moving to address the bans.
