Corinthians coach concedes window may end without signings, seeks attacking help amid financial strain | OneFootball

Corinthians are not expected to add to their women’s squad this window as the club manages debt close to R$ 2.7 billion. Head coach Emily Lima says they will likely finish the season with the current group, though she is still pushing for at least one forward.

After the 4-0 win over Vitória in the Brasileirão Feminino, Lima said: "For now, this is the squad we have and it is with it that we go to the end of the year." She spoke at a press conference broadcast by Rádio Coringão.

"I think the defence is strengthened with Thaís Regina and Agustina, the midfield is full of good things. For the attack, we would like one more, and we will try until the last day of the window to get at least one reinforcement."

The main target is Gabi Nunes, a free agent since leaving Aston Villa in May. Corinthians opened talks and tabled offers in recent months, but negotiations ended over the costs, and sponsorship income from Fatal Fans is now expected to prioritise debt rather than signings.

Brazil’s women’s transfer window remains open until 11 September, and Corinthians’ three transfer bans apply only to the men’s team.

The club also face renewals, with seven players nearing the end of their deals. The most urgent is Gisela Robledo, contracted until 31 August 2026, with talks ongoing amid financial limits and the need for an attractive sporting plan. A Dérbi follows Wednesday, 19:00, at Arena Barueri in the Campeonato Paulista.
