Corinthians concede twice for first time in two months as Internacional win 2-0 | OneFootball

Corinthians were beaten 2-0 by Internacional in the Copa do Brasil on Sunday, their first game conceding twice in two months.

According to Meu Timao, the previous occasion was on 27 May against Platense, a 2-0 defeat at Neo Química Arena. That was the final match of the Libertadores group stage, with Corinthians already qualified and top of the group.

Since then they have played five times, recording two wins and three draws, scoring eight and conceding three. The schedule paused for more than a month due to the World Cup from 11 June to 19 July.

It was the ninth time in 42 games this year that Corinthians have conceded at least two. The sequence features defeats to Platense, Botafogo, Mirassol, Fluminense, Coritiba, Bahia and Red Bull Bragantino, a 3-2 win over São Paulo, and the latest reverse against Internacional.

In 2026, Corinthians have 17 wins, 14 draws and 11 defeats, with 46 goals scored and 35 conceded.

Fernando Diniz’s side now host Internacional in the round of 16 second leg on Thursday at 20:00 at Neo Química Arena, needing to win by more than two goals to qualify directly.
