Corinthians' Deliberative Council voted 115-15 on Monday night to provisionally remove its president, Romeu Tuma Júnior, at Parque São Jorge.
According to Meu Timao, the ballot at the club theatre unfolded amid disorder. First secretary Maria Angela Ocampos, initially chairing, ended proceedings and left after a clash with lifetime councillor Rubens Gomes, known as Rubão, alleging irregularities in the convocation by Stabile.
Councillors continued under second secretary Denis Nieto Piovesan. A nominal paper ballot began with lifetime members then triennials, concluding around 20:30.
Club president Osmar Stabile’s request cited serious allegations against Tuma Júnior, including threats, harassment and interference in executive work, backed by testimonial and documentary evidence. Tuma Júnior filed a judicial interpellation in Tatuapé seeking clarifications and may contest the vote in court, arguing illegality.
Vice-president Leonardo Pantaleão will assume the council presidency. Maria Angela Ocampos, secretary of the Ethics Committee, will lead that body.
The extraordinary meeting had a first call at 18:00 and a second at 19:00, with about 124 councillors attending. Afterward, councillor Vinícius Cascone said he flagged a possible procedural flaw, citing no formal reading of charges, testimony linked to Stabile’s executive and no room for Tuma Júnior’s defence.
