Corinthians have again delayed payment of image rights to their women’s squad, with July’s instalment still outstanding after its 15 July due date.

According to Meu Timao, the club said there is currently no timeframe to regularise the payment.

It is the third consecutive month the deadline has been missed. June was settled 22 days late, May was 14 days late.

The club are operating amid a delicate financial picture, carrying gross debt of about R$ 2.7 billion. In recent days they have received three transfer bans, two from Fifa and one from the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol. These restrictions do not apply to the women’s team, which can still register new players.

Even so, Corinthians are not expected to add to the women’s squad at this point. The board intend to use revenue from Fatal Fans, the club’s new sponsor, to address outstanding liabilities before moving back into the market.

While the hierarchy works on the finances, Emily Lima’s side stay focused on the pitch. The Brabas are competing in three tournaments and face Palmeiras at 19:00 on Wednesday at Arena Barueri in the Campeonato Paulista.
