Corinthians dominate Botafogo at home, seal third Novo Basquete win

On the evening of this Monday (3rd), Corinthians returned to the court for the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). Playing their third consecutive round at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, Timão hosted Botafogo, and in a match where they controlled the opponent for almost the entire game, secured a 90 x 75 victory. With this result, the team now has three wins and two losses in the NBB, currently occupying tenth place in the overall standings.

Coach Jece Leite started Timão with a lineup consisting of Elinho, Davaunta Thomas, Elyjah Clark, Victão, and Gabriel Novaes. On the bench, the team had Tico Faria, Lucas Cardoso, Lucas Cauê, Munford, Kaique, Kauan Raymundo, and Jamelão available.

The first quarter began with Botafogo taking the lead, but as the minutes went by, Timão adjusted and managed to get ahead. Victão and Munford showed precision with three-pointers, while Thomas stood out with a crucial block on Marquardt. In the final minutes, Victão and Lucas Cauê put together a good sequence and Timão closed the quarter at 20 x 12.

In the second period, Corinthians’ dominance was consolidated, with the defense forcing errors from the Rio team and the offense extending the lead to a peak of 21 points. The level was maintained even after a Botafogo timeout, and led by Clark in the final minutes, Timão went into halftime with a comfortable lead of 48 to 29.

The visitors came back more focused for the third quarter, reducing the gap to 11 points in just a few minutes. However, Corinthians responded, with good plays from Clark and Elinho, maintaining the lead in double digits – at the end of the quarter, the Alvinegro was still ahead, now at 65 x 52.

The start of the last quarter was similar to the previous one, with Botafogo trying to mount a comeback, but after a timeout from coach Jece Leite, Corinthians regained control of the match. Munford stood out again with an important three-pointer, and in the final minutes, all Timão needed to do was maintain the lead to confirm the 90 x 75 victory.
