Corinthians dominate second half, beat Unimed Campinas in Paulista

Corinthians returned to the court on Friday night, the 26th, for the Women's Paulista Basketball Championship. The Furious Ones went to the interior of the state to face Unimed Campinas, at the Tennis Club Gymnasium of the same name city, in a match valid for the sixth round of the competition, and in a balanced game, the team imposed themselves in the second half and achieved a victory by 79 x 73.

With this, the team maintains its good phase in the state competition, reaching its fifth victory in six matches played. Now, the Corinthians will only play again next Wednesday, October 1st, at 7pm (Brasília time), against Catanduva at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, again for the Paulista.

Coach Bruno Guidorizzi kept the lineup that defeated Taubaté in the previous state round, going to the court with Thayná Silva, Tassia Pereira, Yasmin Gonçalves, Licinara Rodrigues and Alana Gonçalo. Among the substitutes, Corinthians had available Glenda, Nazinha, Jamile, Jaqueline, Julia Mansilha and Bia Oliveira.

Corinthians started the match opening an advantage on the scoreboard with baskets from Thayná and Licinara, establishing a five-point lead. Unimed Campinas reacted with Brenda converting free throws, reducing the difference. Thayná maintained perfect performance in three-point shots, but the hosts took advantage of Corinthians' passing errors to balance the game. In the final minutes, Joice hit a three-point shot, leaving the score at 20 x 19 for the Furious Ones at the end of the period.

Jaqueline opened the second quarter with a three-point shot, but Unimed Campinas responded with Nicoletti leading a turnaround on the scoreboard. Tassia and Jaqueline de Paula put Corinthians ahead again, but the hosts reacted with Joice and Brenda taking on the offensive protagonism. The partial ended with Unimed Campinas at a minimal advantage of 42 x 41 at the break.

In the third period, Unimed Campinas regained the lead with Brenda scoring in the paint, but Alana Gonçalo tied the game with a three-point shot. Licinara turned the score with a decisive layup, and Tassia extended the lead with another three-point basket. Corinthians closed the period with a lead of 64 x 57.

The hosts reduced the difference to four points at the beginning of the final quarter, but Jaqueline responded with a three-point shot. Bia Oliveira and Glenda converted free throws, opening a ten-point lead. Despite Unimed Campinas' reaction with Sangalli, Corinthians managed the final score, ensuring the victory by 79 x 73.
