Corinthians draw at ACBF, quarter-final place to be decided at home

On the morning of this Sunday, the 12th, Corinthians returned to the court for the National Futsal League (LNF). Timão began their participation in the round of 16 by visiting Carlos Barbosa at the Sérgio Luiz Guerra Center, securing a 1-1 draw thanks to an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Lucas Oliveira. The goal for the black-and-white team was scored by Lucas Martins.

With this result, the tie remains open and will be decided in the return leg, which will take place at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium next Friday, the 17th, at 8:30 PM. If they qualify, the black-and-white team will play in the quarterfinals against the winner of the match between Magnus and Santo André – in the first leg, the Sorocaba team won 3-1.

Coach Fernando Malafaia lined up Corinthians with a starting five of Lucas Oliveira; Lucas Martins, Maicon, Igor Carioca, and Deives. On the bench, available for Timão, were Kelvin, Caio Barros, Marlon, Luisinho, Luiz Brizzi, Renatinho, Edimar, Vandinho, and Rick.

The match started intensely, and the score was opened right at the beginning: with less than two minutes, Juninho received the ball unmarked, turned, and finished across goal, scoring the first for Carlos Barbosa. Corinthians, even with more possession, maintained their style of passing and movement in search of the equalizer, while the home team relied on quick counterattacks and almost increased their lead on two occasions, forcing good saves from Lucas Oliveira.

Timão created a good chance at seven minutes and soon after almost equalized with Luisinho, who was stopped by Pedro Bianchini. Shortly after, however, the equalizer came: at 13 minutes, Igor Carioca found Lucas Martins, who finished and scored Corinthians' first. The home team tried to react, and at the end of the half, Murilo forced another save from Lucas Oliveira, ensuring the partial draw.

The second half began with the black-and-white team on the attack: Luisinho created the first chance, saved by Pedro Bianchini. Carlos Barbosa, however, reacted and started to occupy the attacking quarter, forcing Lucas Oliveira to stand out with two good interventions. Wagner and Murilo had good opportunities, while Timão tried to respond with Igor Carioca, who created a play that Maicon finished with great danger.

The People’s Team tried to neutralize the home team’s plays, but Carlos Barbosa kept creating opportunities. As a result, the Corinthians goalkeeper became the standout player of the match, preventing a second goal on several occasions and securing the draw in the South, which leaves the tie open for the return leg in São Paulo.
