Corinthians end drought, beat RB Bragantino in the Brasileirão

On the night of this Thursday (12th), Corinthians hosted Red Bull Bragantino at the Neo Química Arena in a match valid for the third round of the 2026 Brazilian Championship, and ended up winning by a score of 2-0. The goals for the Alvinegro were scored by defender Gabriel Paulista and left-back Matheus Bidu. With the victory, the Corinthians team jumped to 12th place with three points in two games – three goals scored and two conceded.

In tonight's match, the club from Parque São Jorge also managed to defeat Massa Bruta in Itaquera for the first time since the end of August 2022. Since then, there had been four games between the two at the Arena, with one draw and three victories for the opponent – three goals scored and six conceded. Corinthians also leveled the head-to-head record between the teams at the Neo Química Arena – five wins, one draw, and five losses against the opponent since 2014 at the venue.

Corinthians also defeated Red Bull Bragantino for the first time since mid-January 2025. Since then, there had been three games between the two, with three victories for Massa Bruta. In the two games of the last Brasileirão, there were two 2-1 victories, in Itaquera and at the Cícero de Souza Marques Stadium. In 2026, the teams had already met in the second round of the Paulistão and the opponent won 3-0.

Furthermore, the club from Parque São Jorge won a Brazilian Championship match again after five games – two draws and three losses – considering the end of the last edition of the tournament and the beginning of this one. Previously, the last Corinthians victory in the Brasileirão had occurred on November 20, 2025, with a score of 3-1, at the Neo Química Arena, against São Paulo, in the 34th round of the national competition.

After the 2-0 victory against RB Bragantino at home, in the third round of the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians will once again prioritize the Campeonato Paulista. Next Sunday (15th), at 8:30 PM (Brasília time), the Alvinegro will visit São Bernardo FC at the Primeiro de Maio Stadium, ABC Paulista, for the eighth and final round of the first phase of the Paulistão.
