Ex-Corinthians midfielder Danilo guided Pouso Alegre to their first ever Mineiro semi-final, sealed by a 2-0 win over Uberlândia on Saturday.
According to Meu Timao, this is his first senior managerial post. Pouso Alegre also recorded their best top-flight campaign in Minas Gerais, finishing second in Group B with 13 points.
They face Cruzeiro in the last four. Danilo's side host the first leg next weekend, with the decider away. The other semi-final pits Atlético-MG against América-MG.
Danilo moved into coaching after retiring in 2019, starting at Corinthians. He led the under-23s in 2021 before the programme was discontinued, then took over the under-20s in January 2022, where he made his mark.
He helped bring through talents Gabriel Moscardo, Wesley and Breno Bidon. His under-20 record was 114 games, 69 wins, 20 draws and 25 defeats, capped by the 2024 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior title.
His senior touchline experience included a brief interim spell in 2023. The sole top-flight outing was a derby at Allianz Parque, where Corinthians lost 2-1 to Palmeiras.
