Corinthians learn Women's Libertadores semi-final opponent

A few hours after thrashing Boca Juniors-ARG 4-0 and qualifying for the semifinals of the Women's Copa Libertadores, Corinthians found out who their opponent would be in the match that will decide one of the finalists of the continental tournament. It will be Ferroviária, who defeated Dragonas Independiente del Valle-EQU 3-0 in the other quarterfinal clash.

The match will take place this Wednesday, the 15th, at 8 p.m. (Brasília time), at Estadio Florencio Sola, in Banfield. In the group stage, both teams topped their groups. Corinthians led Group A after drawing with Dragonas Independiente del Valle-EQU and beating Always Ready-BOL and Independiente Santa FE-COL. Ferroviária, on the other hand, overcame ADIFFEM-VEN and Alianza Lima-PER and finally drew with Boca Juniors-ARG.

This matchup is far from unprecedented for the Brabas, with the Araraquara team being one of the most frequent opponents in the alvinegra's history. In total, the teams have faced each other 38 times, with Corinthians holding a wide advantage: 29 wins, eight draws, and one loss, in addition to 85 goals scored and 21 conceded.

If Corinthians overcome Ferroviária in the semifinal, they will compete for their sixth South American title against one of the other four teams still in the running for the championship. These teams will face off this Sunday, the 12th, still in the quarterfinals: São Paulo takes on Deportivo Cali-COL and Colo-Colo-CHI faces Libertad-Limpeño-PAR.
