Corinthians look to extend four-year unbeaten home run in Copa do Brasil

Corinthians faces Athletico-PR on the night of next Wednesday, the 10th, in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals. The match kicks off at 9:30 PM (Brasília time), at Neo Química Arena, where the People’s Team defends a streak of 15 games and over four years without defeat.

The last time Timão lost at home in the Copa do Brasil was in May 2021, when the club was eliminated by Atlético-GO in the round of 16. Since then, there have been 11 wins and 4 draws, including derbies against their three rivals – all of which ended in victories for the black-and-whites.

Corinthians had remarkable campaigns, such as in 2022 and 2023, when the club reached the final and semifinal, respectively, but ended up being defeated in the return legs, which were away from home. In those years, there were memorable qualifications against Atlético-GO, América-MG, Atlético-MG, Santos, and Juventude.

Since the end of 2021, when stadiums returned to full capacity after the pandemic, the strength of the Fiel (Corinthians’ fans) has been fundamental for Corinthians, which has one of the highest average attendances in Brazil. In the two Copa do Brasil matches held in Itaquera this year, both had more than 40,000 in attendance.

After winning the first leg away from home, Timão only needs a draw to advance in the competition – which would extend their unbeaten streak. In case of a loss by one goal, the spot will be decided by penalties.
