Corinthians’ 1-0 home defeat to Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena has cost them a place in the Paulistão standings and stalled their push for top spot.

The result leaves Dorival Júnior’s side on 11 points in fifth. According to Meu Timao, the defeat also denied them the chance to lead the first phase.

Palmeiras move to 15 points in second. Novorizontino stay top on 16 after beating São Bernardo 2-1, with Red Bull Bragantino third on 13 and Portuguesa fourth with 12.

Guarani and Botafogo-SP also have 11, while São Paulo sit on 10 to complete the G8. In this scenario, Corinthians would meet Portuguesa away in the quarter-finals.

Capivariano on 10 and Santos on nine remain in the chase. Mirassol and São Bernardo have eight, with Primavera and Noroeste on seven. Velo Clube are on five, and Ponte Preta are already relegated with one.

Corinthians finish the first phase on Sunday 15 February at 16:00 against São Bernardo at Primeiro de Maio. Before that, they host Red Bull Bragantino on Thursday at 20:00 in the third round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
