Corinthians may play the 2026 season without the Copa do Brasil champions patch, due to a clash between betting sponsors.
According to Globo.com, the club’s deal with Esportes da Sorte, its main shirt sponsor, bars the display of rival betting brands, while the patch issued by the CBF reads "Copa Betano do Brasil".
Despite lifting the trophy at the Maracanã, the marketing department believes carrying another bookmaker’s name on the kit could strain relations with a key commercial partner.
Faced with the impasse, the board has asked the CBF to allow the removal of Betano’s name, keeping only "Copa do Brasil" on the badge. If authorised, Corinthians will produce the patch and use it throughout the season.
There is precedent. Two seasons ago, São Paulo, champions in 2023, chose not to wear the patch due to a similar conflict between sponsors.
In contrast, the Paulistão winners patch from last season, also won by Corinthians, is set to debut next Sunday against Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena. So far, the team have played the first five state matches without it.
The delay is believed to relate to the short gap between seasons and to bureaucratic processes for supplying the material to be applied to the shirts.
